Would you like to earn money by cooking from home?
Do you have a dish everyone loves and keep being told you should sell it?
With Homlunch, you can make it happen, without opening a restaurant or investing thousands of pesos.

But before you begin, it’s important to understand the legal and operational requirements to be part of our platform. Here’s everything explained step by step, no fluff.

What is Homlunch?

Homlunch is a Mexican platform for homemade meals between neighbors.
We connect local cooks (hosts) with diners who want to eat well outside their home... but still feel at home.

As a host, you decide:

  • What to cook

  • How many people to serve

  • What time to serve

  • How much to charge per person

And Homlunch takes care of the rest: reservations, payments, communication, and support.

Do I need a health permit or restaurant license?

No.
Since Homlunch operates under a collaborative and low-volume model, you don’t need a restaurant license or commercial verification.
However, you must follow good hygiene and food safety practices, such as:

  • Keeping your kitchen clean and sanitized

  • Washing hands and utensils frequently

  • Cooking with fresh, high-quality ingredients

  • Properly storing meats, sauces, and perishables

Remember: you're welcoming people into your home. Food safety also means building your reputation.

What documents are required to register?

When signing up as a host on Homlunch, we’ll ask for:

  • Official ID (INE) – to verify your identity

  • Proof of address (optional, if your location doesn't match)

  • Active bank account – to transfer your earnings

  • Real photos of your kitchen and dishes

These help build trust, confirm you’re a real person, and ensure your kitchen meets the basic conditions to offer food.

Do I have to issue invoices or register with the SAT?

Not at the beginning.
As a host cook, you can operate as an individual without business activity while your income is limited and occasional.

However, if you decide to offer food continuously with regular income, we recommend:

  • Registering with the SAT as an individual with business activity

  • Using the “Régimen de Confianza” (RESICO), ideal for entrepreneurs earning under 3.5 million pesos annually

  • Issuing invoices when a customer requests it

Homlunch doesn’t withhold taxes, but we offer basic guidance if you choose to formalize your business.

Does Homlunch make me sign a contract?

Not at first.
Your registration is considered acceptance of our Terms and Conditions as a service provider (host).

However, if you choose to scale up, join special events, activations, or featured experiences, you may be asked to sign a personalized commercial agreement.

Can I cancel or miss a reservation?

Yes, but under certain rules:

  • You can cancel without penalty at least 24 hours in advance

  • If you cancel on the same day or fail to deliver the meal, you may be penalized or suspended

Remember: Homlunch is built on trust and commitment to diners.

What other responsibilities do I have as a host?

  • Treat your guests well

  • Serve what you promised on the menu

  • Maintain good hygiene and food presentation

  • Respond promptly to confirmations

  • Clearly mark what’s included and what’s not

  • Respect your neighborhood’s coexistence rules
